The Parker County Peach Festival—
A Growing Family Tradition!
Take a trip back to yesteryear at the Parker County Peach Festival, held in Historic Downtown Weatherford, Saturday, July 12, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is only $5 for adults and FREE for children 12 and under. The Parker County Peach Festival would like to thank this year’s Title Sponsor First National Bank of Weatherford for supporting this great community festival. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Weatherford Chamber office at 401 Fort Worth Hwy.
There is no better way to beat the summer heat than by enjoying peachy treats! Get your fill of homemade peach ice cream, peach cobbler, peach juleps, peach tea, peach smoothies, peach slushies, or just plain ol’ juicy peaches, eaten with the fuzz! Before you leave the festival, stop by the local produce growers to select high quality, locally grown produce on Palo Pinto at the main entrance of the festival or at the corner of Spring Street and Waco.
Remember to pick up your “Official” Peach Festival T-Shirt this year, featuring artist Sherry O’ Watters. Sizes are S-XL for $15.00 each and XXL-XXXL are $18.00 each. This is a tradition for many people so get them while they last! The shirts can be purchased at the Weatherford Chamber office or the day of the festival near the main entrance on Palo Pinto.
At the Festival, there’s food, fun and non-stop entertainment for the entire family. Over 200 arts, crafts, food and activity vendors will be present during the festival. Take your children to the KidZone for slides, rides, and games. There will also be games and wacky activities like the duck pond, mini-carousel, spin art, air brush tattoos, and the rock-climbing wall! Three stages will have performers singing country music, jamming to rock, reminisce to oldies and everything in between. Chicken Scratch Bistro & Coffee Shoppe, Downtown Café, Fire Oak Grill, and Yesterday’s Sandwich Shop will all be open for various meals including lunch. The southeast quadrant will have a chuck wagon preparing peach cobblers throughout the day. Other companies will have water or cool drinks available for all over the festival grounds including the Food Courts in the northwest and southwest quads.
There is also a Peach Pedal Bike Ride with more than 2,200 cyclists. For more information about the Peach Pedal, you may go to www.peachpedal.com or 817-598-6275. And for the locals, there is an Art Show at the Firehouse Art Gallery (817-599-3278) and Quilt Show at Weatherford National Bank. A Pet Show with unique categories such as “fuzziest pet” and “longest ears” will take place at the JumpXtreme / Maverick All-Star Tumblers Stage at 9 a.m. at the corner of York & Dallas. Proof of vaccination is required for all animals participating or in attendance at the Parker County Peach Festival (click here to view or download the Pet Show/Diaper Derby entry form in PDF format). While you are in the KidZone, enter your little ones in the Diaper Derby or Toddle Along contests (click here for entry form) Saturday morning by 10 a.m. An old-time “42” Tournament (dominoes) will take place at Compass Bank where the good ol’ boys still play for braggin’ rights. Fire Oak Grill will be hosting the Food Competition with various categories 817-598-0400.
There will be many great ways for you and your family to cool off while at the festival. First National Bank will provide a movie showing continuously in the Foyer off Palo Pinto. The Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders will be distributing fans to guests at each admission gate. First Baptist Church will be open for people to cool off under the AC and use their restrooms. Most merchants downtown will be open the day of the festival for festival guests to shop in their boutique. Hobson’s Air Conditioning will have an AC tent available for any interested in stopping by in First Baptist Church parking lot. Two Oasis areas will give away free water or have a way for you to cool off. They are located at the corner of Waco and Dallas (G & D Pools) and at the corner of Spring Street and York Avenue (Almost Heaven Massage Therapy). Eventide Bottled Water Company will give out free water on North Waco near the admission booth.
Parking is available at four remote parking locations: First Monday Grounds, Weatherford College, Weatherford 9th Grade Center, and Hall Middle School. Handicap parking is available in the front parking lot of the Weatherford 9th Grade Center or in front of City Hall. The parking and shuttle rides are free for everyone. You can choose to purchase your ticket at the remote parking location in order to make your entrance into the festival quicker.
We would like to thank the City of Weatherford and Texas Department of Transportation for all their help with the downtown construction projects and helping us make this festival a memorable event. The City of Weatherford has always been a big help in the preparing for the Parker County Peach Festival, and we appreciate the help of all of the Police Officers and Firemen for their dedication the weekend of the festival. Many city employees in various offices have been invaluable in the planning of this festival.
